Denton ISD honors All‑State musicians, Bell Elementary PTA and Ryan basketball milestones

Trustees opened the meeting with multiple recognitions of students, parent organizations and former athletics teams.
President Burns and district staff introduced a dozen Denton ISD musicians who earned Texas Music Educators Association All‑State honors this year; staff noted the selection process is highly competitive and recognized directors and parents who supported the students. "This year, Denton ISD is celebrating 12 musicians and performers who earned TMEA All State honors," a staff presenter said.
Bell Elementary PTA was recognized as a National PTA School of Excellence for 2023–25. The presenter said Bell was one of only 84 schools in Texas to earn the distinction and fewer than 400 nationwide for the year, crediting coordinated parent and administrative leadership.
The board also marked the 20th anniversary of Ryan High School’s 2006 boys basketball state championship and thanked alumni and family members for attending. Speakers reflected on team legacy and community impact. Later in the meeting staff announced that the Ryan girls basketball team had advanced to the state championship; administrators asked the community to support the current team at the upcoming state contest.
No district policy action was associated with the recognitions; they were ceremonial and intended to acknowledge student and community achievement.
