Vidor ISD board approves opt-in human development presentations for grades 6–8

VIDOR, Texas — At a March 24 special meeting, the Vidor Independent School District Board of Trustees voted 4-0 to adopt a School Health Advisory Council (SHAC) recommendation to offer human development presentations for sixth through eighth grades.
The SHAC leader, Teresa Harvin, presented three vendor programs recommended for the district: Determine to Succeed (grade 6), Freedom to Succeed (grade 7) and Aim for Success (grade 8). According to the SHAC presentation, each program runs about 45 to 60 minutes and costs roughly $4,000 per presentation, depending on travel and the number of on-campus sessions. The board adopted the recommendation in a motion by Trustee Camp, seconded by Trustee White.
