Construction update: classroom wings, commons and CTC show steady progress

District construction consultants and staff gave trustees an update showing steady progress on the new high school campus, including framing, sheathing, and work on the learning commons and Career and Technical Center (CTC).
Claycomb Associates' Kendall Edwards said the main entrance and east classroom wing are taking shape with brick and weatherproofing in progress and interior studs being installed. "You can see brick wrapping around, the east side of the building and, some weatherproofing going up," he said. The learning commons area and touchdown spaces for students were highlighted in construction photos shown to the board.
On the CTC, staff said metal panel siding was already installed on the roadside and work was moving quickly. A district representative noted a transformer and generator had arrived on site, which the construction team flagged as a major milestone.
Presenters described interior work in the West Classroom Wing including stair decking, ductwork, speaker conduits and fireproofing. The gym remains in progress with water intrusion addressed as crews complete framing and consolidation ahead of finish work. The auditorium lighting layout had not yet been finalized and crews awaited core box materials before pouring slope slabs in one area.
CTC and classroom exterior wall panels and EIFS finish work were expected to continue as brick masons mobilize and roofing and exterior finishes progress.
What happens next: Contractors will continue framing, set wall panels, install roofing and exterior finishes, and complete interior mechanical, electrical and plumbing coordination; district staff will monitor sequencing to move scaffolding and lifts as exterior work advances.
