Vidor ISD approves Title I purchase of audio‑visual systems for Oak Forest and middle school gym/cafeteria

The Vidor Independent School District board on Monday approved the purchase of audio‑visual equipment for Oak Forest Elementary and the middle school using Title I funds.
Administrators said both facilities lack adequate sound and video capabilities for parent meetings, staff development and student events. The purchase will use Title I funds because both campuses qualify for federal Title I assistance, administration said, and the equipment is an allowable use of those funds.
An administrator explained the systems will be similar to the setup used in the board room and will reduce the need for temporary microphone and screen arrangements. ‘‘This is not gonna come out of fund balance. This is title 1 funds. We have excess money and both of these facilities are lacking in sound and visuals,’’ the administrator said.
The motion to approve was made by Miss Benson and seconded by Miss Long; the board approved the purchase unanimously, 7‑0. Administration said procurement will follow district purchasing rules and that the systems will be installed to support parent meetings and staff development moving forward.
