District gets 3% state aid increase; budget adjustments, RFPs and booster scoreboard ahead

Glen Rock Public School District officials told the board the district received a 3% increase in state aid, which staff will use to restore items cut during earlier budget planning. The administration will prepare tentative budget motions for the board to approve for county submission at the March 17 meeting.

The business administrator said the 3% state-aid increase will allow the district to reinstate some line items cut in earlier budget rounds; staff will continue to refine budget adjustments and present tentative motions at the March 17 meeting to authorize submission to the county for review.

Separately, staff reminded trustees that the district previously authorized competitive contracting and will issue requests for proposals (RFPs) for paraprofessionals and substitute teachers. The district expects to release the paraprofessional solicitation first and follow with the substitute solicitation two to three weeks later, with awards anticipated by May.

A booster club has offered to donate a new scoreboard and installation for the lower field at a cost of about $14,000. Staff said the donation and installation will appear on a future action agenda for the board to accept.

Operations staff also reported that the preschool construction project included a demolition phase that came in under contract, producing a credit change order of $54,363.62. Staff said that amount will be returned to the district’s capital reserve when closed out and that the credit change order will appear on the next agenda for formal acknowledgement.
