The Village of Rouses Point trustees approved a motion to switch the municipality’s IT support to SimQuest at a monthly cost of $2,254.
According to staff, the SimQuest contract includes up to two hours of IT service per month. Unused monthly hours will carry over each month and may accumulate up to 24 hours that must be used by the end of the contract term, staff said. Trustees described the change as moving away from a model where the village paid for every minute of IT service toward a flat monthly fee that should produce predictable costs and potential savings.
The board moved and seconded the measure and approved it by roll call. Trustees asked about the carryover provision during discussion; staff confirmed the 24-hour carryover cap and explained that any unused monthly hours roll forward but must be used before the contract’s end or they will be forfeited. The contract was described as providing more consistent support than the village’s current pay-as-you-go arrangement.
The clerk and treasurer were directed to finalize contract documents and to schedule the transition with SimQuest.
