The Ports and Harbor Advisory Board on Tuesday recommended that the Assembly approve a Marine Exchange proposal to install and operate a weather sensor at the ore dock to provide localized wind and sea-condition data.
Port Director Jennings framed the request by noting the ore dock’s extreme winds and the navigational value of localized data: “Anybody who's been down on the ore dock, you know that it is an exceptionally windy place,” Jennings said when introducing the proposal.
Staff said the proposal is a one-time installation commitment of $13,700 for the initial year and approximately $2,000 per year thereafter for maintenance; board members discussed…
