North Lawrence study goes live; Walkers' River corridor and stormwater rate work move forward

City staff told the Connected City Advisory Board on Feb. 24 that the North Lawrence neighborhood study is now live and that the city expects to use the study’s engagement budget to seek broad public input.
Melissa said the North Lawrence quarter study "went live on our insight this last week" and noted that much of the study’s funding is directed toward public engagement. She also said the city will collect submissions and then conduct an analysis and follow-up engagement based on the results.
Staff also reported that the county-led Walkers' River corridor study has started. The county contracted with a planning firm to produce conservation mapping and corridor recommendations; city staff and other stakeholders have been invited to participate in the project’s stakeholder group. Trevor and planning staff will serve as the city’s representatives on that effort.
On stormwater, staff said they are modernizing how the city calculates equivalent residential units (ERUs) and updating GIS inventories and code language that had not been revised in many years. The work is intended to improve rate-setting and to prepare for future public engagement on any proposed rate or program changes.
Ending: Staff said they will return with more detailed public-engagement plans for each study and that the next Connected City meeting will attempt an on-site visit to the transit center. The board set its next regular meeting for March 17 with a Zoom option.
