Victoria ISD board unanimously certifies May 3 trustee election and issues certificates

The Victoria Independent School District Board of Trustees unanimously certified the results of the May 3, 2025 trustee election and issued certificates of election at a special called meeting on May 14.

The certification was read and attested by Marjetta Hill, election administrator of Victoria County, who reported vote totals for trustee districts 6 and 7. Hill said, "For District 6, Margaret Pruitt had 767. Randy Rockovich had 341, which was a total of 1,108, and there were 102 votes that didn't vote for either." She also read the District 7 totals: "Kristen West had 348 votes. Nikki Castella had 1,396 votes. Josh Moore had 1,000. And the total votes was 2,744, and it was 298 that didn't vote for either." Hill concluded by certifying that the accompanying pages represent the votes cast in each precinct within the district.

A motion to approve the certification of results and to adopt the order declaring the trustee election results passed by a 7-0 vote. The board also moved to issue certificates of election for the successful candidates and authorized the board president to sign the certificates; that motion also passed 7-0. The board president called for votes by a show of hands and announced the motions carried unanimously.

No public testimony or open forum comments were offered before the board moved into the action items, and the meeting concluded after the two formal actions were taken. Trustees offered congratulations to the newly elected members and the meeting adjourned.

The actions complete the formal administrative steps required by the district to finalize the May 3 election and provide the elected trustees with certificates ahead of any orientation or training referenced by board members.
