The presentation listed upgraded district‑wide freezer alarms, upgraded serving lines, and two new food‑service delivery vans among the new items; completion dates cited were Aug. 31, 2025 for earlier items and March 28, 2026 for new items. Staff emphasized that "these funds are strictly tied to improvements in food service and food quality for WFISD students."
As part of the plan and using board‑approved food‑service fund balances, trustees approved the purchase of a replacement warehouse cooler and installation for $350,359 from Mission Restaurant Supplies. Trustees also approved replacement tilt skillets (product only) for 14 cafeterias at a cost of $184,268.04 to A Smart Restaurant Supply; the agenda lists the campuses to receive the units.
Staff said all capital expenditures above $10,000 require prior TDA approval and that purchases of $100,000 or more would return to the board for final approval. The presentation credited staff members Johnny Ozi and Lisa Lonsdale for more than $5 million in kitchen equipment purchases in recent years that are slated for summer installation.
No legal or procurement disputes were raised during the discussion; staff said additional items listed in the TDA plan will be brought back for board approval as required.
