Commission approves partial alley vacation and related CSM for Market Street redevelopment

Staff explained the vacation affects only the portion of alley adjacent to the applicant’s parcels; the alley will be rerouted in an L-shape and located on property the applicant owns so nearby property owners do not lose access. Director Gallagher (planning/engineering staff) confirmed ownership and utilities matters were reviewed and that the new segment would be dedicated to the city as part of the CSM process.
On a motion moved by Commissioner Sherf and seconded by Commissioner Trost, the commission voted to recommend approval of the partial vacation; the motion carried unanimously. The separate CSM item to consolidate lots and dedicate the rerouted right-of-way also carried on a unanimous vote and will proceed through the city’s CSM and recording process.
Both actions were presented as coordinated steps to enable the approved mixed-use project at 1513 Market Street to move forward with a clarified global parcel configuration and alley alignment.
