Board approves Fourth Fridays concert series at Riverside Park for three summer dates

The Board of Park Commissioners on May 15 approved a request to hold Fourth Fridays events in Riverside Park on June 27, July 25 and Aug. 22, contingent on required city and county permits including a special event permit through the clerk’s office.
Staff explained the event is an annual series entering its fourth summer and that the June date will be coordinated with Riverfest. “They do have permission to work with Riverfest on that June date since that is a date that Riverfest kind of moves in,” a staff representative said.
Why it matters: Fourth Fridays are public events that use park space and city services; approval is contingent on other required permits. The motion to approve was made by Commissioner Olson and seconded; the board voted to approve the request unanimously.
