Superintendent outlines district goals and launches preschool registration; social media, mission revision and a three-year tech plan forthcoming

Superintendent provided a progress report on the district’s three board-approved goals and highlighted several near-term operational items.

On goal one (intervention/referral process), the superintendent said the administration is refining the intervention referral (INRS) process using committee feedback. Goal two (rebranding and communications) is advancing: the district has launched new social media handles on Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn and will begin a district digital newsletter in February after the board-authorized platform rollout. The mission-statement revision process is under way with plans to survey students (grades 7–12, with parent permission), staff and parents.

Goal three (technology) aims to produce a three-year technology plan covering instruction, infrastructure and devices; the superintendent said progress has been made and a technology plan is in development.

Program and operational notes: preschool registration opens Jan. 31 and will run on a rolling basis through May; a virtual information session for preschool was scheduled Jan. 23 with English- and Spanish-language sessions. The Little Scholars after-school enrichment winter session has begun. The junior–senior high school student government and senior-class representatives reported school field trips, career programming, elective fairs and student achievements. The superintendent also noted a mid-year review with the executive county superintendent and that budget preparation for school year 2025–26 is in progress, pending federal Title funding finalization.
