Wilson County approves application for Violence Against Women restorative justice grant

Auditor said the county applied through a regional Criminal Justice Committee process and that Wilson County was one of many applicants. The Auditor told the court the application was prepared by the county’s grant coordinator and presented by a county staff member; the county was recommended for funding at roughly $89,000 as a continuation grant that would run into late next fiscal year. "This is a continuation grant," the Auditor said, adding the award would support the county’s victim services coordinator, Christina Macias Campania.
A county official who reviewed the application said the submission ranked highly in regional evaluation and that the county received a favorable review in the competitive process.
The resolution text submitted to the court states that in the event of loss or misuse of grant funds, the county will return funds to the Office of the Governor, and that the county will provide any matching funds required by the program.
