Ridgefield Park recognizes educators and educational-service professionals as Governor’s Educator honorees

The Ridgefield Park Board of Education on Jan. 22 recognized teacher and educational-service professional recipients from each district building as part of the Governor’s Educator of the Year program.
Superintendent (acting) reported the district participated in the program to allow two honorees per building (one teacher and one educational-service professional) and said recipients are eligible to apply for county recognition. Principals introduced honorees from Grant, Roosevelt, Lincoln, Roosevelt Elementary, and the junior–senior high school; each recipient was invited to say a few words.
At Grant Elementary, Leslie Yoon was presented for 23 years of service in the third-grade classroom; Rosa Cartagena was recognized at the preschool program for her work with students with special needs. At Lincoln Elementary, Catherine Lane was honored as teacher of the year and Melissa Lane as the educational-service professional of the year. Roosevelt School named Jessica Delvesco and Mr. Kenny (school counselor) as its educator and ESP recipients. Roosevelt Elementary and Ridgefield Park Junior–Senior High School likewise presented honorees; principals praised finalists’ classroom practice, family engagement and long-term contributions to the district.
Student representatives Riley Flynn and Kristen Coffey gave a school report before the recognition segment; the superintendent and board offered brief congratulatory remarks. The district paused for photos after the presentations.
Honorees thanked colleagues, family and students in short remarks; several noted long service in the district and the role of administration and parents in supporting their work.
