District plans AI policy tied to an AI plan; presentation scheduled for June

Officials said the policy work began as part of a larger packet of updates provided by counsel (referred to in backup as a Strauss update) and has been refined by the district’s AI committee. The administration said it prefers to finalize the operational AI plan before adopting the policy so the board’s expectations align with implementation details.
The timeline provided calls for the AI plan to be completed by mid‑July, a first policy reading in July and a second reading in August to have the policy in place for the start of the 2025–26 school year. District staff said any major revisions to the living AI plan will be presented to the board; Matt Shea will give a full presentation on June 9 so the board can ask questions directly of the staff member overseeing the plan.
Board members raised a drafting concern about language that allows administrative changes before returning for board approval and asked staff to tighten that wording. The administration said significant changes would be brought to the board and that the superintendent and designated delegate would manage plan updates.
