Board approves bids, hears plan for roof and HVAC upgrades tied to ROD grant work

Trustee Cooney, reporting for the buildings and grounds committee, said the panel reviewed "the newest version proposal for Dakara Rubino ROD grant project" and confirmed the revised proposal "does not include additional project cost for the change in having 2 biddings, the high school project and the Grama in Roosevelt school projects." The board approved resolutions 12‑01 through 12‑03 by roll call.
Committee members also discussed a junior/senior high academic wing roof replacement that the committee expects to advance through state co‑ops to secure pricing and to complete over the summer. Finance materials presented earlier in the meeting show the partial roof replacement is anticipated at approximately $2,100,000 and that the cost will be covered from the district's capital reserve account.
The committee reported that the DOAS project (HVAC) requires an electrical upgrade that "was not picked up during the original DOAS project scope," and that the district will need to include the upgrade within the ROD grant project. Trustees were told ongoing summer work related to the ROD grants may render the high school gym and cafeteria unavailable while contractors perform work; the village has been notified.
Trustee Cooney said the committee's next meeting is scheduled for May 5. The board approved the buildings‑and‑grounds resolutions without further public comment.
