The Pequannock Township School District reported preliminary on‑demand results from Pearson for grade 11 at its May 12 meeting: 95 percent passed English language arts and 83 percent passed math.
Superintendent Dr. Portis said 151 grade‑11 students took both assessments. The district noted the 83 percent math proficiency is an increase from 77 percent in 2024. For students who did not achieve proficiency, district staff said retake opportunities will be available in the fall.
Portis told the board the state has not yet released updated guidance on alternative pathways for the class of 2026, but he said prior routes include provision scores from PSAT/SAT/ACT/ACCUPLACER and a portfolio appeal. The district said it expects additional state guidance within about a month.
No formal action was required at the workshop; staff will follow up with parents and return additional guidance when the state issues updated options for the class of 2026.
