A monitor appointed under a prior agreed order reported to the State Board for Educator Certification that A+ Texas Teachers met monitoring thresholds in the second agreed order, and the board voted to restore the program’s accredited status for 2023–24.
The monitor, a retired educator with decades of K‑12 experience, described a 12‑week review of candidate files, mentor qualifications and mentor training and reported compliance rates well above the 80% threshold the agreed order required. The monitor also completed a separate one‑time compliance review of processes and procedures identified in the first agreed order and found A+ had demonstrated the required corrections.
Under terms of the second agreed order, the monitor will continue quarterly reviews through Sept. 2025 and the program will participate in TEA’s continuing approval review pilot in 2025. Staff told the board that eight impacted certificate offerings had been accepted for revocation in writing by the provider and one program had chosen to pursue a SOA hearing on a specific certificate matter; staff said programs may teach out admitted candidates although they cannot admit new candidates into a revoked certificate.
After reviewing the monitor’s final report, the board voted to change A+ Texas Teachers’ accreditation status to accredited for the 2023–24 cycle. Staff said they will continue follow‑up under the second agreed order and publish monitor updates as required.
