Ferguson Twilight Run set for May 17; organizers seek participants and sponsors

Dwayne T. James, race director for the Ferguson Twilight Run, briefed the City Council on April 22 about the event planned for May 17, 2025, and asked for civic support and sponsorships.

"The 2025 Ferguson Twilight Run is scheduled for May 17," James said, outlining a schedule of entertainment beginning at 4 p.m., a 1-mile fun run at 5 p.m., a 10K at 5:45 p.m., and a 5K at 6 p.m. He said the event complements other daylong Ferguson activities, including the Ferguson Farmers Market and the fire department's anniversary, and that road closures will begin in the late afternoon.

James described the run as a community celebration managed by LiveWell Events and said the race has attracted participants nationwide and internationally in past years. He reported cumulative registration totals over 16 years and said last year's registration was about 1,269 participants; this year's registrations were tracking slightly lower.

The 2025 beneficiaries include Emerson Family YMCA and Girls in the Rhine Strength and Honor. James described pricing ranging from about $20 for the 1-mile to $35 for the 10K, with discounts for groups and youth; team discounts and virtual participation are also available.

James asked council members and residents to help recruit registrants and sponsors, noting sponsorship levels that start as low as $100 and rise to higher tiers. He also described logistical elements: timed results, closed-course safety, finisher medals, vendor areas, volunteer needs and an after-race concert.

Council members praised the event's neighborhood atmosphere and asked staff to help publicize logistics including road closures and volunteer opportunities. James said the planning committee will continue meeting and requested outreach assistance to boost registrations.

No formal council action was required; the presentation was informational and included a request for city staff and council assistance with outreach.
