Board approves Jefferson and Lincoln Hubbard principals; Dan Healy and Ray Santana named

The Summit Board of Education voted to appoint Dan Healy as principal of Jefferson Primary Center and Ray Santana as principal of Lincoln Hubbard Elementary School; both hires were confirmed unanimously.
The Summit Board of Education on April 24 approved two elementary principal appointments: Dan Healy as principal of Jefferson Primary Center and Ray Santana as principal of Lincoln Hubbard Elementary School.
Superintendent Scott Hough introduced the candidates and highlighted their backgrounds. "Dan has been here in Summit for 11 years, seven of them as athletic director and K-12 supervisor of physical education and health," Hough said, adding that Healy had already served as interim principal at Jefferson and received positive feedback from staff and families. On Santana, Hough said the candidate brought about 10 years of elementary principal and special services experience in Fairfield, New Jersey, plus 16 years as a special education teacher.
Board members moved to approve the appointments; a roll-call vote recorded affirmative votes by Miss Stanton, Mister Mahecha, Miss Kelly, Miss Erday, Mister Cho, Vice President Melanie Cohen and President Willida Justice. The board president said the motion carried and congratulated both appointees.
According to the superintendent's remarks, the principals are expected to begin July 1, with interim leaders remaining in place until then.
