Texas veterinary board clarifies rule allowing compounded controlled substances for clinic use

The Texas Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners on April 15 clarified that its existing rule (cited at the meeting as rule 573.44) does not prohibit veterinarians from obtaining compounded controlled-substance products for multiuse office stock, but that medications dispensed for a specific patient to go home must be issued as a separate prescription following dispensing rules.
