Commission approves farmland-preservation easement for 112-acre Rader Farm near Romney

Allison Jewell of the Farmland Protection Board asked the commission to approve a farmland-preservation easement for the Rader Farm, a 112-acre property on Cumberland Road just outside Romney. Jewell provided the commission with a plat and aerial map and described which uses would be included and which would be excluded from the easement; she said the farm’s businesses were excluded from the easement restrictions.
Commissioners reviewed the materials and praised the parcel’s location adjacent to a primary county road. Commissioner Bridal said it was good to preserve farmland along major routes and moved to approve the easement. The motion passed by voice vote.
