Hampshire County commissioners on May 13 authorized President Eglanger to sign a roofing proposal from Blackstone Roofing for work on the county annex building.
County representative Matthew Haught presented the item and the commission approved a motion to authorize the president to sign the contract. The motion passed with vocal ayes.
Haught also reported he had contacted a surveyor regarding a separate roof project for the old board office connected to a grant (referred to in the meeting as a “day report grant”), and he asked when the commission wanted that work put out to bid. Commissioners agreed to place the old board office roof on the agenda for the next meeting so the procurement and bid timeline can move forward.
Why this matters: replacement or repair of the annex roof is a county capital maintenance item; the contract authorization allows work to proceed subject to standard county procurement practices. Commissioners asked staff to return with the required bidding documents and timeline for the old board office roof.
Next steps: President Eglanger will sign the Blackstone Roofing proposal; staff will post the old board office roof bid on a future agenda and complete any upfront procurement steps.
