Superintendent announces Blue Mountain principal's retirement; district to seek expanded environmental review at Buchanan Verplanck

Charmebley also reported that district staff met with representatives from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, the New York State Public Service Commission and the New York State Department of Health to discuss the baseline environmental monitoring report for Buchanan Verplanck Elementary School. He said the agencies recommended a more robust evaluation before installing a gamma detection monitoring system, and the Department of Environmental Conservation provided a list of qualified vendors. The district expects to issue a request for proposals for that expanded scope. Staff estimated the cost for a full, industry-standard evaluation at roughly $7,500 to $12,000.
Charmebley announced a centennial celebration task force first meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, March 25, from 6 to 7 p.m. at Hendrick Hudson High School (room to be confirmed). He invited community members to volunteer for the task force.
