Love Irvine reports growth, plans Nov. 8 citywide day of service

Curtis Drever, founder of the nonprofit Love Irvine, delivered a presentation to the City Council on Feb. 25 describing recent volunteer activity and plans for the organization’s citywide day of service.
Drever said the group’s fourth annual event in November drew 654 volunteers across 28 projects and that participation increased about 20% from the prior year. He described partnerships with the City’s Community Services Department, the Irvine Company, Orange County Fire Authority and nonprofits including South County Outreach and Second Harvest. Drever said volunteers assembled and packed 20,304 meals for children and organized food and clothing drives.
Drever told the council the fifth annual Love Irvine day of service is set for Saturday, Nov. 8, with a planned kickoff at Woodbridge Village Center. He described the organization’s broader mission as promoting belonging and community engagement and said Love Irvine plans smaller service events throughout the year in addition to the annual citywide day.
Council members thanked Drever for the work. Vice Mayor James Mai and Council member Liu described participating in volunteer activities tied to Love Irvine. Drever invited council members to collaborate and said he looks forward to coordinating with city staff on future events.
