District communications staff previewed a redesigned South Orangetown Central School District website that will launch Monday, April 14, and said the new site will prioritize mobile usability, simpler URLs and easier access to frequently used links.
Jen Cicciolo, a member of the district communications team, said the redesign is the product of an 18‑month process with input sessions from October 2023 through March 2024. “Knowing that our users spend less than two minutes per visit, our focus was on maintaining the main navigation structure… while streamlining content to enable users to get to the information that they're seeking faster,” Cicciolo said.
Communications staff said the site introduces a capital improvements page that lists funding sources and descriptions for each project, a searchable employee directory that links to HR so it updates automatically, and a consolidated Board of Education landing page with board documents, policies under review and bios. The team also plans previews with building staff and PTA groups and will notify families via ParentSquare about a brief disruption during launch.
Board members praised the new site’s mobile interface and menu and asked where to send questions; communications staff said users should email communication@socsd.org and that a user guide pop‑up will appear after launch. The communications team plans to review the site during recess and publish an “at‑a‑glance” resource before schools reopen.
