Board approves consent agenda and substitute appointments; moves to executive session with no action expected

The Marlboro Central School District Board of Education approved the consent agenda and a list of substitute appointments and then voted to enter executive session at the Jan. 16 meeting.

Consent agenda: The board approved the consent agenda — which the superintendent presented as including contracts, personnel recommendations, the official minutes of Dec. 19, 2024 and Jan. 2, 2025, health services agreements with neighboring districts, a LexisNexis contract and financial reports for September 2024 — by roll call. Recorded votes were: Faith Nanini, yes; James Kuha, yes; Missus Reid, yes; James Mullen, yes; Trish Benninger, yes; and the board president (recorded as "myself"), yes. The motion was made by Joanne and seconded by Trish.

Substitute appointments: The board approved the appointment of substitutes to the district list effective Jan. 17, 2025; the motion was made by Faith Nanini and seconded by James Kuha. The minutes record a voice affirmative vote ("Aye. Aye.") and the motion carried. Appointees listed included Julia Baer, Theresa Fancher and Mary Pelkey. Appointments are subject to fingerprint clearance from the New York State Education Department and compensation consistent with the 2024–25 substitute rate of pay.

Executive session: The board then moved into executive session to discuss a personnel matter; the motion (moved by Tricia and Joanne) specified "no action afterwards." The minutes record the motion and that executive session would occur; no public action followed.

The board did not adopt other policies or budget changes during the public meeting portion.
