St. Louis County recognizes new 9-1-1 dispatch graduates

The council paused to recognize graduates of the St. Louis County Public Safety Dispatcher Academy Class 24 on April 29.
Veronica Claiborne, identified in the meeting as the newly appointed director of the Bureau of Communications, introduced Jason Mazur, the academy’s training coordinator. Mazur said Class 24 started March 10, 2025, completed seven weeks of classroom training and graduated on April 24, 2025. He listed graduates by name: Erin Johnson, Kristen Pruiser, Nadia Felder, Dominique Birch, Catherine Spinks (who scored over 94% on the final assessment, the top score in the class), Haley Rogers and Logan Boughton. Mazur said the graduates will continue training on the job for about 12 weeks paired with experienced dispatchers.
The council and meeting attendees applauded the graduates. There was no formal vote associated with the recognition.
Why it matters: dispatcher training supports county emergency response capacity; the academy provides classroom instruction and supervised on-the-job training prior to independent duty.
