John H. Glenn athletes and teams honored after state and county championships

The Board of Education recognized a large group of John H. Glenn High School athletes and teams for success during the winter season, including sectional and New York State achievements in swimming, track relays and wrestling.
David Shanahan introduced the recognitions and described multiple team and individual accomplishments: swimmers and relay teams placing in state competition, girls and boys 4x200 relay teams who were Suffolk County Division II champions, and the wrestling program's run to a New York State dual-team championship. Individual athletes were named for their contributions, including a student who placed fourth in his weight class at the individual state tournament and another who earned a two‑time state championship.
Shanahan praised coaches and athletes for perseverance and noted that many of the students will be honored with certificates and photos. The board and superintendent congratulated the teams and coaches and invited team members forward for recognition and group photos.
