Student board member reports admin transition, May 3 prom venue change and drama club request for $1,600 cyclorama curtain

The student said the high school has experienced a transition of administrators: interim principal Tom Ciacchio is present several days a week and the new dean, Mr. Van Ostrand (also referred to as Brian Nashorn earlier in administrative updates), has been visible in the building. "Mr. Ciacchio is in there as well, and the students are loving Mr. Ciacchio so far," the student said.
Wellness day and prom The student reported a wellness day scheduled for Jan. 27 with assemblies, a BMX motivational speaker, and a range of rotating stations including yoga, self-defense, guided painting, movies, and athletic activities.
For the Class of 2025 prom, the student said the originally booked venue (the Bridal Walk) has closed permanently; the prom location moved to Lansy's with no additional cost to the class and the May 3 date remains. The student estimated ticket prices will be between $40 and $50 and said the class is exploring a post-prom activity at Via Port in Rotterdam; any off-site transportation plans will be formalized and returned to the board for approval.
Drama club and auditorium equipment The student said the drama club has doubled its cast to 62 students for the spring musical and thanked the district for recent auditorium upgrades (new stage floor and additional lighting). The club requested the district consider purchasing a cyclorama (white) curtain to improve lighting and projection effects; the student said the cost would be $1,600 and that the curtain would be used by the whole school, not only the drama club.
The board indicated the district will return with a formalized proposal for transportation and any off-site prom activities if the class approves those plans.
