Resident urges county to take over private road after years of safety complaints
Summary

Dawn Chad told Jefferson County Council she has lived on Scenic Drive for roughly four decades and asked the council to incorporate her private street into county jurisdiction or otherwise assist residents with road maintenance and enforcement.
Chad said the street functions as a “no man’s land” and that residents face persistent safety issues from parked vehicles, trailers and roadside trash that make navigation hazardous for new drivers and seniors. She said she has contacted Councilman Crow about the problem and that a local road committee has not been active since 1999.
Chad asked the council to help recognize that the prior road committee is no longer operating and to assist in restarting a committee or taking other steps so residents can get enforcement and road-safety fixes. She described the issue as affecting seniors and new drivers and said the community would welcome help organizing a new road committee or other county action.
Transcript records show Chad spoke during the public-comment portion of the meeting and the council did not take immediate action during the session; the clerk accepted her comments for the record.
