Committee hears personnel update; superintendent to recommend new director of guidance for July 1

At the start of the Policy & Personnel Committee meeting, district administration reported personnel changes including a forthcoming recommendation to the board to appoint a new director of guidance and ongoing hiring to fill teacher vacancies caused by retirements.
Committee Chair Deborah Brooks said the superintendent will make a recommendation for a new director of guidance at the board meeting on Tuesday and that the district expects the appointment to be effective July 1. “So we look forward to having that in place for this coming, July 1,” Brooks said.
Brooks added that the district is moving forward on teacher vacancies resulting from retirements; candidates are completing demonstration lessons and interviews and will be processed through the district’s usual hiring procedures. She said new hires will begin to appear on upcoming agendas as the process moves forward.
No formal motions or votes were recorded in committee on the personnel items; the matters were described as administrative steps the superintendent will bring to the full board.
