Riverhead board approves driver education contract, Chromebook service and multiple policies; grants tenure

The Riverhead Central School District Board of Education on Jan. 28 approved a series of routine and new-business actions, including a contract for driving instruction, a Chromebook service agreement, and the third and final reading of multiple district policies. The board also confirmed tenure for art teacher Katie Wilkinson.

The actions were taken by voice vote during the meeting; board members moved and seconded each item and the motions passed without roll-call tallies being read into the record.

Board members approved a contract with All Suffolk Auto to provide the driving portion of the district's spring driver education program, with anticipated enrollment of 32 students. District speakers clarified that the vendor fee covers only the behind-the-wheel driving portion of the course; classroom instruction had been addressed on the consent agenda.
