At the Jan. 14 meeting the Colonial School Board received an update on the district strategic plan and the transition to a new five‑year plan. Board members were told the district is in the penultimate year of the current plan and will begin work on a replacement to cover the next five years.
District leaders said the next planning cycle will replicate the prior multicategory approach — district, building, parents and community members — but will add operations representation because the earlier plan lacked that voice. "One area in which we did not have representation was operations. So this year ... we're gonna make sure that we include them as well," a district leader said.
The strategic‑plan committee was scheduled to resume meetings the day after the board meeting. Doctor Jones will provide periodic updates to the board as work proceeds and the district will hold a first meeting to review the prior process, identify what went well and what should be changed going forward.
No formal action was taken; the board will receive future updates as the committee develops the new plan.
