Student leaders plan May summit to amplify student voice

Student representative Daniel told the Christina School District Board of Education on Feb. 11 that the district will host a student leadership summit on May 14, 2025, at the DuPont Experimental Center on STAR Campus, aimed at about 100 students from the district’s high schools.
The summit, Daniel said, will be a full-day event focused on leadership styles, strategies to amplify student voice in school policy and procedures, and working with school leadership to improve school culture.
Daniel said the Student Superintendent Advisory Council worked on workshop activities designed to promote mutual understanding between students and staff. “The idea behind it is that we're also developing other student leaders and developing student voice in our school because these people will take what they learn from our workshop ... take it back to their schools, and actually enact change,” he said.
Board members applauded the plan. Board member Monica Moriac called Daniel’s leadership “phenomenal” and said the board looks forward to seeing what students bring back. Superintendent Mark Andrzejewski and other board members also praised the student-led planning and said the district will support the summit.
The presentation included a short promotional video linked in the slide deck; Daniel said the summit is intended for grades 9–12 in Christina School District and that organizers hope to recruit about 100 students from across the district.
