Carver County Board of Commissioners on March 18 approved proclamations to recognize National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week, National Administrative Professionals Day, National Correctional Officers Week, National Nurses Day and Peace Officer Memorial Day, and completed routine agenda business including adoption of the agenda, approval of minutes and the consent agenda.
Sheriff Jason Cameron presented the proclamations and described the roles of affected staff, saying, "These are the first, first responders." He told the board that modern dispatchers do more than transfer calls: "These folks are trained in providing telephonic instruction, how to perform CPR so that the people who are making the calls can begin the life saving efforts while the units are en route."
