Sussex County Council voted Jan. 14 to authorize the county engineering department to prepare and post notices for a proposed annexation into the Sussex County Unified Sanitary Sewer District to include Parcel 134-11-141 in the Millville area. The council approved the motion unanimously.
The item, presented by the director of utility planning and design review, said the parcel is adjacent to the existing Millville Sewer District and that the property owner, Louis Travelini, has provided an easement to allow a neighboring community to convey stormwater. The engineering department said the parcel must be annexed before the neighborhood connection can occur and that system connection charges would be $7,700 per equivalent dwelling unit (EDU) under current rates.
The county will post a public hearing notice for the annexation as the next procedural step. No public hearing date or estimated resident cost beyond the per-EDU charge was specified in the council discussion.
The motion approved reads that the engineering department is authorized to prepare and post notices for the Travelini expansion to include Parcel 134-11-141 as presented on 01/14/2025. The council recorded unanimous yes votes.
