Council selects Delta Airport Consultants as five-year aeronautical services provider

Sussex County Council approved a five-year professional aeronautical consultant services agreement with Delta Airport Consultants on March 4, noting the Federal Aviation Administration requires an RFQ solicitation every five years.
Engineering staff said the county solicited five known airport engineering firms and advertised in the American Association of Airport Executives channels; only Delta submitted a statement of qualifications. Council and staff said Delta is an experienced airport-only consultant and had previously supported Sussex County coastal airport projects.
Council asked whether the consultant work will support runway extension planning and whether projects identified in the FAA-approved capital improvement plan (CIP) will be eligible for Airport Improvement Program (AIP) funding. Airport staff confirmed the county is pursuing taxiproject design and working with the FAA on runway extension eligibility. The council approved the award and directed engineering to negotiate a detailed scope, schedule and fee schedule for FAA concurrence.
The county clerk will return the executed agreement after administrative negotiation and FAA concurrence.
