Council adds Crescent Place parcels to Miller Creek sanitary sewer district area

Sussex County Council voted to extend the boundary of the Sussex County Unified Sanitary Sewer District within the Miller Creek area to include the Crescent Place development, the council was told at a public hearing.

County engineer Jeff Ashman said Beacon Engineering LLC, on behalf of The Evergreen Companies LLC, requested annexation for a parcel along Central Avenue proposed for 57 single-family lots plus a clubhouse. Ashman said the developer will be responsible for system connection charges in effect at the time of connection and that engineering posted notice and advertised the hearing; the county had received no written correspondence in support or opposition prior to the hearing.

No members of the public spoke in the chambers and the county operator reported no remote callers for the Crescent Place item. The engineering department read a resolution into the record to extend the Miller Creek area boundary to include Crescent Place on the southeasterly side of Central Avenue in Baltimore Hundred; the council moved to adopt the resolution and the motion carried on a recorded vote.

Ashman told the council that the parcels are adjacent to the existing Miller Creek boundary. The engineering department’s public notice and advertisement schedule was presented as part of the record. The resolution is to be recorded in the Recorder of Deeds office for Sussex County and will obligate the developer to connect to the county sanitary system and pay applicable charges at the time of connection.

Council members voted in favor during the roll call; the motion carried and the public record was closed.
