FCPS family survey: participation rises; families report high satisfaction and highlight winter-closure and mental-health needs

Tracy Bruno, FCPS chief of staff, presented the results of the 2025 FCPS family survey to the board, reporting 14,087 responses out of 25,909 households (54.4% response rate) and year-over-year increases in positive responses across multiple measures.
Bruno said participation improved 5 percentage points from the prior year and that 11% of respondents completed the survey in a language other than English. Top district-level agreement items included: “I am proud that my children attend Fayette County Public Schools” (92%), “Quality and diversity of learning opportunities prepare students for the next grade” (91%), and “The school district keeps the public informed” (89%).
Areas identified for improvement included communication around winter-weather closures and nontraditional instruction (NTI) days and requests for additional student mental-health supports. Bruno said schools and the district will analyze school-level responses, identify trends and develop action plans; principals will receive their school data and district family-engagement liaisons will help teams create improvement plans and report back.
Board members asked for deeper breakdowns by race, program and subgroup; Bruno said the district can provide those cross-tabulations on request and intends to use the data to inform school improvement plans and family-engagement goals.
