Jackson County Legislature waives readings, holds dozens of items and introduces several contracts for committee review
Summary

The Jackson County Legislature voted to waive the readings on a set of ordinances and later held multiple ordinances and resolutions for further consideration during its March meeting.
A motion to waive the readings on ordinances (including items referenced by the clerk as 5909 through 5966) was moved and seconded. The clerk called the roll; the legislature recorded seven yes votes and two absences. The clerk announced: “7 yes, 2 absent.”
The body announced it would hold specified ordinances (including items listed as 5909, 5957, 5958, 5965 and 5966) and numerous resolutions numbered 21641 through 21878 for future action. An ordinance identified as 5959 (appropriating $71,751 from the undesignated fund balance of the 2025 general fund for acceptance of a grant from the Missouri Department of Public Safety for the Missouri Western Interdiction and Narcotics Task Force) was perfected but members moved to hold it; the motion to hold was seconded.
Several procurement-related items were introduced and assigned to committees: a 24-month supply contract with a 12-month option for bottled water and dispenser services to Metro Pure Water LLC and DS Services of America (Primo Water North America) was introduced and assigned to Finance and Audit (21880). A 31-month term and supply contract with two 12-month extension options for maintenance, repair and operations supplies to Lowe’s Home Centers LLC was introduced and assigned to Finance and Audit (21881). A 24-month term supply contract for fuel dispensing equipment to Petroleum Equipment Inc. of Kansas City was likewise assigned to Finance and Audit. The legislature recorded those introductions and committee assignments as standard procedural steps; no contract awards were finalized at the meeting.
The body also introduced ordinance 5967 (see separate coverage) and assigned it to Intergovernmental Affairs. Finally, members voted to cancel the Monday, March 17 meeting because of a downtown parade and scheduled the next legislative meeting for Tuesday, March 18 at 10 a.m. at the Jackson County Courthouse; that scheduling motion passed by roll call with seven yes votes and two absences.
All hold motions and introductions were recorded as either held or assigned to committee; no final contract awards or appropriations (other than the perfection and subsequent hold of ordinance 5959) were completed during the session.
