Jackson County finance committee holds proposed senior tax credit ordinance

The committee held the ordinance after members said a similar piece of legislation that makes corrections or modifications was coming onto the agenda later this week. "So my suggestion is that we go ahead and hold this and then when that other piece of legislation concerning the same subject comes before the committee we consider them both at the same time," Smith said.
Committee members did not state objections to holding the ordinance. The chair called for a motion to hold; the motion was seconded and, without objection, the committee agreed to hold Ordinance 59 65 for later joint consideration with the related bill.
Why it matters: the ordinance would change county code provisions governing a senior tax credit; committee members said they preferred to consider it with a parallel bill that contains corrections. No changes to county policy or the tax credit were adopted at the meeting.
