District 25 parent leaders briefed on CEC election timeline, DPACC dates and interim financial-report deadline

Jenny Chen said CEC applications opened Jan. 13 and close Feb. 16; parents must apply via a Nexia (Nexa) account. Candidate forums, to be hosted by president's councils, will introduce nominees; voting runs mid-April to mid-May with results announced in June. Chen explained that elected CEC members serve two-year terms (2025–2027) and described the council’s duties, including working with the superintendent, hosting town halls with the chancellor and organizing legislative breakfasts. She urged interested parents to attend monthly CEC meetings or contact current council members to learn more.
Eden Rubinstein, representing the Community Education Council, reminded attendees about a special business CEC meeting this Thursday at 6 p.m. and that the regular District 25 CEC meeting is Feb. 5 at 7 p.m. She noted the open election season and encouraged potential candidates to file before Feb. 16.
Administrative reminders: Rachel and Jenny reminded PTA leaders that the 2024–25 interim financial report (covering July 1, 2024–Jan. 15, 2025) is due Friday, Jan. 31. The form must be signed by both treasurer and president, submitted to principals and parent coordinators and shared at the next membership meeting. The report can group income and expenses by event rather than listing individual transactions and must reconcile to bank statements as of Jan. 15. The president’s council meeting on March 17 will be a CEC candidate forum; the regular February meeting was moved to Feb. 24 due to midwinter break.
