District 25 staff reviewed winter diagnostic assessment windows, midyear targets and progress-monitoring procedures for the District Comprehensive Education Plan (DCEP).
Doctor Mike summarized assessment responsibilities and windows: Acadience (K–2) and I Ready (reading grades 3–8; math K–8), with testing windows running through early February. Staff explained the district adjusted midyear MOI targets so midyear-to-midyear comparisons are apples-to-apples rather than back-calculating from end-of-year targets. Gus told the team the midyear goal is roughly 2.5 percentage points higher than last year’s midyear for all students and 5 percentage points higher for targeted subgroups, with an end-of-year aim of larger gains.
Staff also raised technical and reporting issues. Gus and others said some progress-monitoring fields were being flagged as incomplete when certain fields were intentionally left empty; that blank-field behavior caused some automated reports to show schools as out of compliance even when they had done progress monitoring. Gus said central is aware and staff will follow up to correct the reporting. Doctor Mike told principals they will continue to receive follow-up reports and that the district will work with central to resolve the report-generation issue.
Members discussed parent communication about student progress. Rachel and Rob recommended increasing translated, one-page flyers and verifying parent contact information (e.g., Parent Portal/ParentSquare) to ensure families receive progress updates. The DLT agreed to develop a more consistent approach for communicating diagnostic and progress results to families and for supporting schools in signing parents up for district notification tools.
No formal votes were recorded; the presentation was informational and the DLT directed staff to finalize MOI adjustments, fix progress-monitoring reporting issues, and draft a consistent parent-communication approach for diagnostics and progress updates.
