District 25 reports class-size funding and hiring event after recruitment fair

District 25 leaders reported progress on class-size reduction and teacher recruitment, saying the district received additional funding to hire classroom teachers and assistant principals and that recruitment events drew strong interest.
"We have received additional funding for 156 teachers and 4 APs," Eduardo said in his Queens North update, noting the funding should help projected average class sizes meet compliance targets.
Staff described a district recruitment fair that drew more than 300 attendees and involved principals, assistant principals and teacher leaders from multiple schools; a district hiring event was scheduled for May 20. CSA and school leaders said the fair produced a strong candidate pool and that some schools saw long lines at certain tables for potential hires.
Rob and other participants thanked district staff and organizers for the hiring fair and said they expected continued recruitment work over the summer, including district and Queens-wide hiring events.
District staff also highlighted other school activities—youth empowerment events and arts partnerships—that they said had strong participation and publicity.
