Board accepts retirements, announces personnel leadership change and votes to enter executive session

The board recognized the upcoming retirement of Ray Cottrell, who has worked with the district for nearly 30 years in maintenance and grounds-related roles. The board also accepted the retirement of Kristen Capoliden; in remarks the board described Capoliden as having served the district for 19 years and as an assistant superintendent-level personnel administrator. The board thanked both employees and announced retiree recognitions to follow later in the year.
The board introduced Stacy Spadafore Dejico as the district’s incoming director of personnel (started with the district in February 2013 and became director of personnel around 2016), noting her prior role overseeing childcare/aftercare programs and the clerical personnel team that supports district operations. Board remarks said she will assume the personnel leadership role for the remainder of the year and join cabinet.
Later in the meeting the board voted to enter executive session to discuss negotiations and salary discussions related to hiring an assistant director of personnel, to receive legal advice about the use of towers on school property, and to consider an employee resignation that had been made known to the board. The motion to enter executive session was moved by Vinny Reynolds and seconded by Meredith Volpi; the chair recorded the board as entering executive session.
