Provo district to lead support team for Franklin Elementary under state's CSI process

Wendy Dow told the board the district's internal support team will include central-office staff and specialists and will meet monthly with Franklin to monitor a reduced set of goals. "They pulled that [consultant assignment] and so... the district is supposed to put together a support team that will support Franklin Elementary instead," she said.
Who is on the district team: staff named in the meeting included Jason (district staff), Jared (district staff), Michelle (district staff), both Nates (Nate Mitchell and Nate Edelson), and likely Carrie Rollins for behavior supports; roles were discussed as a combination of district leaders and specialists who will coordinate school improvement implementation.
What changed and why it matters: Franklin had several goals that district staff considered too many to manage; the school scaled its plan back to three goals (math, literacy and behavior) to streamline implementation. District staff said the change will not affect CSI funding; the district will still upload plans and progress to the state and report monthly.
Timeline and reporting: Dow told the board the state now expects districts to submit progress and that state determinations of CSI status will be issued in January (previously in November) and that schools are identified every three years. The district will continue to monitor Franklin's 90-day plans and allocate CSI funds as needed.
