Provo board hears student travel report: Centennial Middle School performed at Lincoln Center

Brookerecounted that students spent most days in rehearsals with industry professionals and that the experience emphasized professionalism and performance rigor.
A student video played for the board included students saying the trip "helped me grow as a person and it helped me grow intellectually and socially," and advisers said three of their students were chosen as soloists during rehearsals in New York out of six total soloist selections.
Details shared: participants were mostly 13- and 14-year-olds who spent multiple days in intensive rehearsals with current Broadway professionals; they performed at Lincoln Center and completed a full professional sound check before the concert. The ratio of sopranos/altos to basses was described as roughly 60 to 8; producers and music directors spent additional time helping less-experienced vocal parts.
