The Catalina Foothills School District Foundation presented a semiannual donation of $45,000 to the district at the May 13 governing board meeting, bringing the foundation’s total contributions this year to $105,000, foundation leaders said.
Amy Morales Baum, the foundation’s president, told the board the $45,000 check combined with earlier gifts — $50,000 from the annual fund, $5,000 from a literacy and fine-arts endowment, and $5,000 dedicated to food and educator supports — totals $105,000 for the year. “These dollars ensure that educators have what they need to thrive in the classroom,” Morales Baum said.
Superintendent Denise Bartlett and board members thanked the foundation. Bartlett emphasized the foundation’s role in programs that support new teachers and retention, citing the district’s Great Beginnings program, which Morales Baum and others support through foundation funds used for mentoring and professional learning.
The presentation included brief remarks recognizing volunteers and donors; no board action was required to accept the gift beyond the ceremonial acknowledgement.
